Statement on Speaker Silver "Ceding" Control to Committee from Assemblyman Kieran Michael Lalor (R,C,I - East Fishkill)

By Kieran Lalor, on Jan 26, 2015

"This reminds me of the time Mets manager Bobby Valentine was ejected from a game and tried to come back to the bench wearing a fake mustache and glasses. New Yorkers weren't fooled by Valentine and we're not fooled by Silver. As long as Silver is speaker, we all know that he's still in charge of the Assembly Democrats. Silver fully intends to maintain control from his seat not far behind the curtain. This is unacceptable. Silver has to go. If the Assembly Democrats think they can pull one over on New Yorkers, they're very wrong."

Statement on Imminent Arrest of Silver from Assemblyman Kieran Michael Lalor

By Kieran Lalor, on Jan 22, 2015

“I have long called on my Democrat colleagues to be profiles in courage and choose an Assembly Speaker other than scandal-plagued Sheldon Silver.  The opportunity for Assembly Democrats to show political courage has now passed.  With the imminent arrest of Speaker Sheldon Silver, I am merely calling on Democrats in the Assembly majority to be profiles in common sense and elect a different Speaker.  It is bad enough that major decisions in our state are made by three men in a room.  As we start a new session and head into budget negotiations, we can’t have one of

Lalor: De Blasio Shouldn't Meet with Corruption-Plagued Speaker Silver

By Kieran Lalor, on Dec 3, 2013

Statement on NYC Mayor-elect de Blasio meeting with Sheldon Silver from Assemblyman Kieran Michael Lalor (R,C,I - Fishkill)

"It’s disappointing to see Bill de Blasio sit down with corruption-plagued Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, pretending that there is nothing wrong. Silver repeatedly covered-up for sexual harassment and abuse in the Assembly. He has created an environment in Albany where corruption is routine. De Blasio had an opportunity to strike a blow against corruption by shunning Silver. Instead, it’s politics as usual."
