Lalor: De Blasio Shouldn't Meet with Corruption-Plagued Speaker Silver

By Kieran Lalor, on Dec 3, 2013

Statement on NYC Mayor-elect de Blasio meeting with Sheldon Silver from Assemblyman Kieran Michael Lalor (R,C,I - Fishkill)

"It’s disappointing to see Bill de Blasio sit down with corruption-plagued Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, pretending that there is nothing wrong. Silver repeatedly covered-up for sexual harassment and abuse in the Assembly. He has created an environment in Albany where corruption is routine. De Blasio had an opportunity to strike a blow against corruption by shunning Silver. Instead, it’s politics as usual."

It's Cuomo's Responsibility to Challenge Silver

By Kieran Lalor, on May 17, 2013
Statement on Gov. Cuomo's Refusal to Challenge Speaker Silver from Assemblyman Kieran Michael Lalor (R,C,I - Fishkill)

“Governor Cuomo has failed as a leader by refusing to challenge Speaker Silver. Cuomo claims that it’s not his place to say whether or not Silver should remain as speaker. Cuomo is wrong. He is the governor and the leader of the New York Democratic Party. In those roles, it is his place to demand reform. It’s his job. It’s his responsibility.
